We had Salie's appointment at Arkansas Children's Hospital this week with Dr. Patel to solve the urinary leakage mystery. Salie had to be put to sleep to undergo a scope to take a look at her kidney & urinary system. The theory was that her left underdeveloped kidney attaches to the vaginal cavity instead of the bladder and that theory was confirmed. Salie had trouble with the anesthesia, being very emotional & confused, but otherwise the procedure went very quickly and well. She battled nausea & vomiting all day which was not pleasant but is back to 100% at the moment with no cares that she has a kidney problem.
The procedure also showed that the kidney was much smaller than originally thought so Dr. Patel recommended testing kidney function to make the best decision on what surgery route would be right. We were able to complete that test on the same day with Salie lying flat with weights on her arms & legs for almost an hour and then got to come home.
Dr Patel called the next day to let us know that the left kidney has no substantial function and that he consulted with a kidney specialist who recommends removal of this kidney. This was an answer to prayers in that this surgery is less invasive, less hospital stay, and quicker recovery time. We are tentatively scheduled for December 8th but will finalize plans this week. We are thankful for every thought and prayer and appreciate more and more as we get closer to December.
School pictures were very successful! We bought the copyright so expect copies in the future.
Elliott is now in a big girl bed (toddler) and didn't get out of it one time the whole first week. She has slept all night and calls for us when she wakes up in the mornings. Today, however, we caught her up playing during nap time.
Elliott loves wearing everybody else's shoes. I have tried for months to capture it on camera. She also prefers to wear what Momma and Salie are wearing on their feet.
There is not a girl in the McKnight household that is a fan of mornings.
These two have been so sweet to one another lately.
Elliott played in the cotton and went to Pumpkin Hollow with Nana & Granddad while we went to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
Salie was so excited about her Mommy/Daddy date at the HOTEL!!! She had a steak dinner, swam at the indoor hotel pool that included a splash pad, went to a late night movie, and went to Build-A-Bear before her doctor's appointment. She wasn't allowed to eat after bed time which I dreaded since breakfast is her favorite meal but she never even asked!
At Build-A-Bear she chose all on her own to make her sister a puppy instead of getting something for herself. Proud parent moment!
Salie had quite the giggle response to her silly juice.
She recovered pretty nicely once she could hold something down.
I think they missed one another a bit.
Orange Pumpkins & their #1 cheerleader
This sums up our week!
